Steven Retz: January, 2015
He felt the Lord ask him to resign. He came
across the writings of Rock Waterman and realized that the church has
continuously changed its doctrines. He still believes in the restoration
through Joseph and the Book of Mormon but feels the Lord leading him to serve
elsewhere.
LDS Resignation LetterTo whom it may concern, This letter is my formal resignation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I want my name removed from being a member of the church. I have given this matter considerable thought. I understand what you consider the ‘seriousness’ and the ‘consequences’ of my actions. I am aware that the church handbook says that my resignation “cancels the effects of baptism and confirmation, withdraws the priesthood held by a male member and revokes temple blessings” I also understand that I will be “readmitted to the church by baptism only after a thorough interview”. (quotes from the current Church Handbook of Instructions) This has not been an easy decision, but it is one I feel directed by the Lord to take. I am appreciative of the growth I have had in the church, and I hope to stay friends, but it is time for me to move onto something else. Sincerely, |
