Two Criteria for making you Calling and Election Sure

Did you know: The two criteria for making your calling and election sure which seperates the Celestial from the Terrestrial are that we must be "Just and True". The Terrestrial start the path that leads to eternal life, but never finish it. Only the Celestial finish the path by becoming Just and True.
The Lord says that the Father seals everyone who is both Just and True with the Holy Spirit of promise.
D&C 76:53
53 And who overcome by faith, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, which the Father sheds forth upon all those who are just and true.
To be true. We must recognize both the truth and the error and cling to the truth. This means we must see and acknowledge the truth and error in organizations like churches, religions, and the teachings of religious leaders. We do not need to recognize and accept all truth, but we need to acknowledge and cling to what is true and reject what is not when we see it.
Some people think the church is only good with no flaws and its leaders teach only truth with no errors. This is not aligned with truth and such people could never be meet the criteria of being "true". Likewise, some people view the church as only bad claiming there is no good in it. In the same way they cannot be called "true". So it is with everything. There is good and bad in all political groups, ideas and solutions. To be sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise we must look for the good and the bad and use the spirit as our guide.
Being "just" is to be honorable in our actions and dealings with others. To do our best to deal justly.
The Father sheds forth the Holy Spirit of Promise upon all those who are just and true.

Q: D&C 76 says the terrestrial receive the testimony of Jesus.
A: That is the gate by which we enter, baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. Everyone in the Terrestrial kingdom has entered in at the gate and is on the path that leads to eternal life or the path that leads to the Celestial Kingdom. They may be at the beginning of that path, near the end of that path or somewhere in the middle. They may be on the path or maybe they left the path and are wandering in darkness. But they all entered in at the gate and received the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. They are not valiant in their testimony of Christ and so they do not follow the spirit which speaks the word of God and is the iron rod. But we are told in D&C 76 that
1 - The Telestial do not receive the gospel or testimony of Jesus Christ but the Terrestrial do. D&C 76:81-82,
2 - The Telestial are judged by their works without atonement according to the law, but the Terrestrial are not under the law which means they are alive in Christ, see D&C 76:71-72, Moroni 8:22, Gal. 5:18, Gal. 3:23-25, Romans 8:2, Romans 7, Heb. 7:11-12, Romans 3:19, Romans 6:14-15, 2 Nephi 9:25
3 - The Terrestrial are not valiant in the testimony of Christ and so do not obtain the crown. D&C 76:79

The Baptism of Fire and Holy Ghost is the gate to the Terrestrial, and the spirit will strive with you when you make mistakes or do that which used to be sin. But, if you turn your heart back to evil and exit the gate after the spirit has had a place with you, you become perdition and there is no repentance for you.
2 Nephi 31:14
14 But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying: After ye have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptism of water, and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of angels, and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that ye had not known me
Heb. 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
